Just because somebody gets caught, convicted and condemned, doesn’t mean everybody needs to join in the dogpile.
There are two very different cases in the news recently where I think people are somewhat overreacting. First, Lance Armstrong.
I was never a huge fan. It’s a really boring sport to watch. Full credit for him for surviving cancer and keeping on bicycling even though he’s a testicle short, though. I was just getting a bit bored with his long-term dominance of the sport. Just like with Roger Federer and Tiger Woods, I was kind of glad when somebody else finally won one.
I’m on his side now, though. He was a great athlete and as hard as they tried to catch him doping, they never did. Now, they say they have “overwhelming evidence” but it basically amounts to all sorts of people saying he did it. Armstrong maintains his innocence and I see absolutely no reason not to take him at his word. If they couldn’t catch him back when it counted, by means of tests and such, it’s just plain irrelevant now.
It makes me laugh when I see some aging executive prattle on about how they are going to wipe Lance Armstrong’s name from the books, how he no longer has anything to do with cycling. Yeah, right. Lance Armstrong IS cycling. I sure can’t name another cyclist off the top of my head. Can you?
The second case is the far less admirable Michael Brutsch, who ran a bunch of really sleazy, disgusting, perverted and anti-social (but probably legal) threads at Reddit. Reddit got sick of his shit and went public with his real name. He got fired from his job for being a scumbag and now the whole world, including his family, knows what a pathetic creep he is.
But then I saw him on TV today, whining about how he’ll never get another job. Not so, dude. You’ve proven you have some computer and social media marketing skills, and a near complete lack of ethics. There are lots of people who would give you a job.
Try giving Karl Rove a call.

Exactly. Even if he was doping, so was everyone else, so the playing field was still level, and Lance is still the best. The government hack should find something productive to do, instead of trying to compensate for his little wee-wee.
