Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
-Arthur C. Clarke
We live in a magical universe. Here’s what I mean. In the Harry Potter universe, if someone is having a birthday, you can just wave your wand and say something like “Appara Dorticus Anniversarius” and you’ve got a 3 layer Bavarian chocolate with hyper ornate icing and sparkling candles floating in front of your faces. Magic.
Would it still be considered magic if they started by mixing the ingredients, which is taught in potions class at Hogwarts, and transformed them (transformation being professor McGonagall’s department) into a cake in a magic box, still saying a few magic words and waving the wand?
Would it still be considered magic if the ingredients were mixed with a blender and the magic box was an oven? It should be. The result is just as delicious. The wands and incantations are just for show.
There’s magic all around us. We have art and music from around the world at our fingertips, we can talk to people anywhere and even see them, we can access any fact known to mankind within seconds, and yet…I don’t know how the internet works. To me, it is indistinguishable from magic.
I’m kind of losing the thread here, so this is a short blog tonight. But the main point is, everything is magic.
