Home Again

Sometimes I feel like the universe revolves around me and other times I feel like I was just born on the wrong planet and sometimes it goes back and forth several times in the course of a single day.

When we went to bed last night in Cesky Raj after dinner around the campfire, the sky was clear and the stars were out, but sometime in the a.m., when the sky was still dark, we could hear thunder and wind and pouring, driving rain and it was such a nice break after weeks of overbearing heat that I  didn’t get up to close the window (although somebody else did, eventually)

In the morning, I decided to go for a walk, it was still cloudy and damp but the actual rain had stopped, and it was lovely, the sheep were enjoying their freshly moistened grass, the ditches by the side of the road were being used by the excess water as temporary stream beds, and I saw several deer, one jumped out of the bushes when I was just a couple of feet away.

There are two ponds near the cottage and, for a change, I decided to walk around the upper end of the upper one, which is farther than I usually go, and there was no fence stopping me from walking across the field there but then, it was just too wild, you couldn’t get close to the pond for the tangled brush and at the far end of the field there WAS a fence, so I had to turn back and my feet got totally sucked into the mud and I got back to the house looking like I’d been traipsing through a swamp instead of out for a pleasant morning stroll.

The weather was calm, but still cool, during the drive home and, as we got closer to Prague, there was an announcement that the street we needed to take was going to be closed, some kind of a special event, but we thought, well, we’re carry on and see what happens and it was closed directly below where we needed to turn so I said “See, the universe really does revolve around us.”

Then, we got home, got settled in, and the rain cut loose again.  One tree in front of our house got knocked over, but we could just watch the storm from the balcony.  It was beautiful.

Sounds lovely. I love nature also. There was an ad on TV to visit the Czech Republic just this week, the first such ad I have seen.
