Copraganda

I am old enough I can remember when we just had 3 channels on TV.  Most of it was crap, occasionally there was a program that was great, but we watched it with the same zombie like focus that we still do today.

When the idea of massive numbers of channels came in, we all thought this would lead to a great variety in programming, and there are some kinds of programs (reality  TV) that just didn’t exist back then.  That doesn’t mean they are any good.police-brutality

The common wisdom, of course, is that the people who run the networks, the people who choose the programming, are just trying to get the maximum number of viewers so that they  can charge the maximum amount for advertising.  I think there must be another force at work.

I just can’t believe that 80% of the viewing public, at 10 o’clock in the morning, want to watch cop shows.  Super gory, twisted, bloody cop shows.  Because that’s what’s on.  If it was just about market share, a few of these channels would think “Hey, if everybody’s showing a bloody, violent program now, maybe we should show something funny, or something historical, or something with a talking horse, or a quirky being from another planet.  Just to get that percentage of the audience  that doesn’t want to watch a band of supercops solving a brutal and senseless murder committed by some evil genius who’s covered his tracks brilliantly.”

But the percentage of cop shows (I’m counting in lawyer and detective shows, they are the same thing) is just too high.  I suspect that the powers that be, the Masons or Illuminati, or Elders of Zion, or Rosicrucians, or whoever the hell it is who is really running the show, are putting out massive police propaganda,  to get the populace to accept police control, and extreme police tactics.

This morning on CSI (New York, with Gary Sinister) they had an episode about a cop who was accused of shooting an unarmed man, but of course he was pure as the driven snow and the guy had had a gun and shot at him and ran through alleys filled with garbage cans, accompanied by dark, evil music.  And the crowds of liberal do-gooders were ready to storm the police station and lynch the poor, misunderstood, heroic defender of society.

That is their story.  It counters the real life incidents of the cops in LA who shot the Rottweiler, the cops in Pine Bluff, Arkansas who shot the 107 year old man, the cops in Chicago who tazed an old man to death in his nursing home, the cops who shot a black football player dead when he tried to report a car accident, because he was big and scary, the cops in D.C. who shot the woman after she got out of her car, as her infant son watched.

I’m convinced that it is meant precisely to counter those stories.  It’s dressed up as entertainment, but it’s propaganda.
