The Importance of Uranus

As I put together Watson’s World News each month (see link at right), there is one feature that takes up way more time than it should.  That is the horoscope.  Also, it’s probably the most popular feature in the paper.  Everybody loves reading their horoscope, even people who don’t believe a word of it.

Of course, I am not a professional astrologer, so what I do is I look at one of the big zodiac sites (my current favorite is  http://www.world-of-wisdom.com), read their forecasts, and condense it down to a succinct sentence or two.  I leave out all the stuff about planets and houses and ruling signs.  This is supposed to be easy English and, besides, space is limited.

The Planet Uranus

Anyway, one interesting thing I’ve learned from editing this piece on a regular basis.  The difference between the signs is not so great as the difference from month to month, collectively, for everybody.  Some months are rough, some months are great.  In some months almost all signs will be urged to caution, in some months almost all signs will be promised adventure and romance.  Of course, the language is varied up to keep it interesting, and sometimes they speak of romance, sometimes finance, sometimes travel or education but that’s just to maintain variety.  In the same way, an editor will change the word “bought” to “purchased,” “obtained,” or “acquired” just so the same word won’t be used twice, because that’s boring.

Anyway, one factor which will affect 6 of the 12 signs of the zodiac next month, according to world-of-wisdom, is the movement of Uranus into the sign of Aries, on the 11th or 12th.  If you are an Aries, Uranus will begin a revolutionary period which will last 7 years.  Shake your ass.

If you are a Gemini, Uranus will bring strange and exciting new people  into your life.  If you are a Cancer, Uranus will bring a boost to your professional career.  It can do that.  Libra’s reading is quite interesting.  “With Uranus’ entry into your opposite sign, you can expect surprises.”  If you are a Capricorn, Uranus will have a profound effect on your environment and family attachments.  Last but not least, if you are an Aquarius, Uranus will affect your mental development for 7 years into the future.

In view of all this, there is one piece of advice that I think would serve everybody well:  Watch Uranus.

Better that Uranus enters into my opposite sign than the other way around. I hope I get good surprises and not bad ones.
