Frank Zappa sang “You’ve gotta get out of it before you get into it. You’ve gotta get into it before you get out of it.” I think we’re seeing that proven right before our eyes in the way the quest for scientific knowledge is evolving.
As we delve down to the sub-atomic level, the laws of physics change and it’s like we’re dealing with a different universe, the universe of which our universe is made. I read today that they’ve discovered a 5th basic force of the universe, don’t remember if it even has a name yet, but it will be listed up there with gravity, electromagnetism, the strong nuclear force and the weak nuclear force. Oh, one more thing. It only affects protons and neutrons, so we’re not likely to hear about it much in our every day lives, but it is an example of getting into it before you get out of it.
Par contre, a satellite mapping technology called Lidar has uncovered not just one ancient Mayan pyramid, not just one ancient Mayan city, but the whole damned empire, cities, towns and individual dwellings, all interlinked by a system of roads.
I love the names. Tikal, Holmul, Witzna, and Xmakabatun, which is pronounced something like it rhymes with Shmack a Platoon. People lived in those cities, worked, maybe shopped because you get settlements of those sizes barter becomes complicated, maybe went to schools. Certainly they ate, and made music and danced, and had families. Their civilization still collapsed long before the Western world knew about them, so we’ll never know much of their history, but nonetheless. It is a lost world that was discovered from space.

Finding the Truth
I find it rather strange – I would say ironic but somebody would probably accuse me of using the word incorrectly – that we know the individual parts of the atom, the age of the universe, and which dinosaurs ate which other dinosaurs, but we don’t know whether the DNC documents, the ones which proved that Hillary rigged the primaries, were leaked by Clinton staffer Seth Rich, leading to his murder, or hacked by evil Russians.
Of course, I enjoy watching Trump twist in the wind while everybody (even some staunch Republicans) accuse him of treason, which I’m sure he’s perfectly capable of. But I still think the documents were released by Seth Rich. Otherwise, his murder is a giant mystery, because the story of a mugging gone bad makes no sense at all. Picture it. A dark street, no witnesses in sight, the mugger shoots him twice in the back (which is often known to cause death) and then thinks ‘OMG, what have I done?’ and flees the scene without taking anything.
Of course, on the other side, there’s the unanimous word of all our intelligence agencies, but it wouldn’t be the first time they all lied to us. They lied about Saddam Hussein’s ‘weapons of mass destruction, they lied (I’m pretty sure) about 9/11, they lied about the babies being pulled from the incubators in the run-up to the first Gulf War, even using the Kuwaiti Ambassador’s daughter as an actress pretending to be a nurse, they lied about Iran-Contra, they lied about Chile, they lied about the Gulf of Tonkin resolution, they lied about the Cuban missile crisis, and they’ve been lying since the 1930s about marijuana.
In any event, I am in favor of finding out the truth. I think everybody involved should be investigated, under oath, attached to a lie detector, and whatever answers they give should be investigated, and so on and so on, until there are enough Democrats, Republicans, and rogue CIA agents in jail for American democracy to begin to recover.

The Role of Higher Consciousness in Real Life
True to my hippie roots, I do have plenty of new age thinkers among my Facebook friends. Now, some of it I’m down with, some of it I’m not. I’m ready to keep an open mind on all herbal and folk remedies, but I’m certainly not an anti-vaxxer. I don’t mind talking about the zodiac as long as nobody takes it too seriously, and I’m kind of into Tarot. So, it’s a mixed bag.
But, one post that was posted today was such an exercise in empty reasoning, such a complete rejection of common sense, that I had to respond.
The gist of it was that we needed to rise above the left-right, Republican-Democrat paradigm and realize that the universe is all in our minds and so, we should all strive to reach a higher consciousness and our worries will disappear quicker than morning mist on a hot July morning when there aren’t any clouds in the sky.
Which struck me as rather nonsensical. ‘The universe is what we perceive the universe to be’ is a nice philosophical sounding thought, worthy of Kahlil Gibran or Paolo Coelho, but it is not true. If you are hit over the head with a shovel, it is going to hurt and no amount of meditation is going to change that. As long as there are things, things matter.
Higher consciousness is great, and I’m all for trying to achieve it (if I ever get there, I’ll let you know) but the lower consciousness doesn’t stop existing. In fact, it is important to existence, because the lower consciousness is the consciousness which keeps us from stepping in front of a bus.

Putin’s Poodle
Whether or not there has been ‘hacking’ and ‘collusion,’ it’s pretty obvious Putin has Trump by the short and curlies. I put ‘hacking’ and ‘collusion’ in quotes because I think there was more ‘leaking’ and ‘Seth Rich.’
Nonetheless, in Trump’s time on the Helsinki stage, he very much did come across as Putin’s puppet. It was noticeable in the body language, and plenty of people noticed it. It was in his tone. After acting like a complete jackass in the NATO meeting and in England, he’s suddenly deferential as crazy. And, of course, it was in what he said.
So, the question is why. Why would the leader of the ‘most powerful’ country on Earth act like that?
I see two possibilities. One is that the infamous pee tape actually exists. Although his supporters forgive him for marrying a stripper, for going through multiple wives, for cheating on all of them, but some of them might just draw the line at paying hookers to pee on a hotel bed. Oh, they’d watch. They’d watch again and again. But, it might cost him a bit of support. He can laugh off corruption, he can appoint horrible people, he can appear weak in front of a foreign leader, but that might hurt him a bit.
Theory #2 is that it has to do with Trumps finances. Some even say that it goes back to the late 80s, when he was bankrupt and they bailed him out, and he’s been their poodle ever since. It’s possible. I actually find it more likely than the pee tape. There’s one quick way to find out.
Somebody (and by somebody I mean Robert Mueller) needs to look at his taxes and financial records. The truth is out there.

When The Shit Hits the Fan, It Flies in all Directions
It appears the shit has well and truly hit the fan. Not so much from the 12 indictments that were handed down a couple of days ago, which have the Hillbots jumping up and down because they’ve been looking for the smoking gun so long that everything looks like a smoking gun, and has me scratching my head. If these are Russians, and they are in Russia, what difference does an indictment make. If they fail to appear in court, there’s not a whole lot anybody can do about it.
The shit has hit the fan because of the orange numpty’s reaction to it. With Putin, in Helsinki, he said something along the lines of “I believe Putin, I don’t believe the FBI.”
Well, this has got people going apeshit on both sides of the aisle. Before he’s through, the tiny fingered fucknugget will have more diversity among his haters than Hillary Clinton herself.
Bernie Sanders, with his usual talent for understatement, said “this is not normal.” On the opposite ridge of the chasm of good and evil, Paul Ryan said “of course Russia meddled in the election.” He didn’t exactly call for impeachment, or even censure, but he did directly contradict Trump. John McCain called it the most disgraceful performance he’d ever seen from an American president.
I am glad to see this, and would be perfectly happy to see the mangled apricot hellbeast spend his last, miserable days in jail – the kind of jail that does not have a golf course – but I’m not sure we’re going to see it just yet.
Also, if it does happen, I would like to remind people that the crime the Russians allegedly committed was to hack into the DNC servers, and to expose some of the documents they found there, mostly e-mails and stuff. Documents which proved that Hillary and the DNC cheated Bernie out of the nomination.
