Outrageous Conditions

Joe Biden says it is “outrageous” that Sanders would even suggest putting some conditions on the billions of dollars of “foreign aid” (weaponry) that the U.S. gives to Israel every year.
Why? If you let your friend use your car, you are well within your rights to request that they return it with a full tank, and maybe not use it in the commission of any major felonies. If you enter a contest to win a free trip to the Bahamas, there are probably some conditions in the fine print, like you must be over 18, or signed up to get the company newsletter or something.
Pretty much everything in life comes with conditions. Most restaurants won’t allow you to eat there except on the condition you be wearing shoes.
So, it doesn’t seem outrageous at all that the U.S. should put some conditions on its aid to Israel, like maybe ‘don’t start WWIII,’ or ‘stop chopping down thousand year old olive trees,’ or just ‘stop murdering Palestinians.’

Biden’s statement does raise the question, once again: what the hell does Israel have on the United States that even questioning the idea of throwing billions of dollars at them with no preconditions gets called outrageous? Do they have blackmail on all members of congress? Are they giving huge bribes? I do not know. But, it must be something really big. Because no other country gets treated that way.

Florida Man

Florida Man Throws Alligator Through Window of Wendy’s
Florida Man Says he wasn’t Drinking and Driving, Only Sips Bourbon at Traffic Lights
Florida Man Assault Girlfriend With Fried Chicken
Florida Man Assaulted During Selfie With Squirrel

You all know the meme. So, it’s kind of fitting that America’s stupidest, most criminal president should want to take up residence in America’s stupidest, most criminal state. A regular marriage made in hell.
Why he’s doing it, I’m not sure.
Some suspect that there’s some legal advantage to it, but there won’t be much. It’s not as if he’s moving to a different country which doesn’t have an extradition treaty with the United States. Besides, he still owns property in New York and, as the owner, is liable for that property and subject to New York laws. You might be able to avoid paying traffic tickets by moving to another state, but any crime larger than that, I doubt it.
It might just be a tax dodge, but it’s his federal taxes which could get him impeached and thrown into jail – federal jail.
Some say it’s for political advantage. Florida’s a swing state and he’s trying to shore up support there. I doubt it will work. Everybody in Florida knows who he is, and has pretty much made up their mind if they are voting for him or not.
Democrats might win Florida if they run a candidate that masses of people are enthusiastic about, but if they nominate a limp dishrag like Amy Klobuchar or Elizabeth Warren, Trump will probably win.

Where Will the Beto Voters Go?

Of course I am glad to see Beto O’Rourke drop out of the race. As a Bernie supporter, I want everybody but Bernie to drop out of the race so he can win the nomination by acclimation and go on to kick Trump’s ass, about a year and a week from now, become president, and solve all the world’s problems (I am not exaggerating, his program could actually accomplish that)
And, I hope that Beto’s supporters will gravitate towards the Sanders camp. Their numbers are not great, and I don’t expect them to gravitate anywhere en masse, so it’s not what I expect. Just what I hope, and encourage.
I imagine some of Beto’s support is from women who find him good looking, and those will probably go to Buttigieg. If there are some who support him because he is from Texas, they could wind up as Julian Castro supporters, up until he drops out as well.
But, if Bernie Sanders is to have 51% of the delegates going into the convention, which is what we will need, a lot more people need to drop out.
Here are my suggestions: People who have absolutely zero governmental experience. We’ve seen, with Trump, what a disaster that can be. Of course, some other people have come to the presidency without previous governmental experience: Grant and Eisenhower spring to mind – but they already had great experience for the commander -in- chief aspect of the job. Marianne Williamson, Tom Steyer, and Andrew Yang do not have that. If this were a job application (and it is), their resumés would not even get them an interview.
Biden should drop out, because he is senile, and offensive, has no platform at all and an absolutely atrocious record, especially with regards to women and black people.
Buttigieg, whose only experience is as mayor, which he sucks at, should probably drop out, too. Along with Cory Booker, he has shown that he prefers for-profit-health industry cash over Bernie’s Medicare for All plan. Warren is in this category as well.
Harris should definitely drop out. After being eviscerated by Tulsi Gabbard in the 2nd debate, she has never recovered and it is very obvious she never will. She never did answer the questions, and it’s because she can’t.
I’m not predicting any of this will happen. I’m only saying it should, and I wish it would.

Woke

Now, admittedly, I thought myself that the term ‘woke’ was a bit overused and irritating, sort of like all those people who say “Wake up, Sheeple” as if only they know what’s going on and everybody else in the world is an idiot.
But, when you look at it head on, the opposite of woke is asleep, and the opposite of being socially and politically aware is to be socially and politically unaware, which is definitely not a good thing.
So, it bothers me that Barack Obama has decided to lash out against ‘woke culture.’ Sure, as he said ‘the world is messy, and sometimes good people have done bad things’ and I guess there’s an implication that we should be more forgiving, which I’m all for in personal relationships, but not when choosing who to vote for. When he started talking about ‘purity tests’ it was very clear that his fight is with Sanders supporters, and he thinks we should be more forgiving of politicians who are less pure, which angers me. When we’ve got a Bernie Sanders, why should we settle for politicians whose most positive characteristic is that there are others who are even more corrupt? There is no reason.
By saying we shouldn’t have ‘purity tests’ he’s saying we shouldn’t have standards, or at least not very high ones. That line of reasoning, that gaslighting, that telling us we have to settle for shit because that’s just the way the world is and we must be a bunch of whiny, little crybabies because we are no longer content to accept being the footstools of the rich, is a bad line of reasoning and we reject it completely.
I used to like Barack Obama. Read both his books. Voted for him twice. But the change he told us to hope for never occurred, and now he’s actively working against it ever occurring.
And all of his glibness and eloquence cannot cover up for that.

Happy Halloween

It is Halloween, which is not a big deal here in the Czech Republic at all. We did carve some pumpkins this morning -me, my daughter, and her cousin – and this evening we’ll do sort of a haunted house thing and give away some candy, just for a few little kids in the building we know, but I’m not allowed to make my costume TOO scary, because one little girl, who is not yet two, might freak out a bit.
I know many Americans over here, and some say they are nostalgic for things like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups or Dr. Pepper, and I really don’t get it. (until about a year ago, Oreo cookies were on that list but they sell them here now) Every place you go, they have some interesting things to eat and drink, and it’s not really a deprivation to go without something you’re used to for a little while.
But, I do miss American Halloween, a bit. The candy, the costumes, and the endless jokes and puns about ghosts, and ghouls, and monsters, werewolves, zombies, etc… It’s a part of autumn.
Here, they have Dušičky (souls), which will be this Saturday, but it’s just a day to go to the cemetery and lay wreaths on the graves of your dearly departed and not really much in the big laughs department at all. It’s a nice thought, but not nearly as entertaining as Halloween.
I think the Mexicans have the right idea with Dia de los Muertos, which combines the two concepts.
