The Repercussions of the Revelations

On the one hand, it’s not nice to delete somebody’s Twitter account.  On the other hand, it  was Trump’s account, it was  a pissed off Twitter employee, who was  quitting anyway, who deleted it, and I’m sure he’s got it back by now, so it is kind of funny.

It’s not like election rigging or  anything.

A lot of  people on my Facebook page, on the Bernie Boards, are saying that we  should forget about Hillary and just move on.  They are already accusing us of losing  the next election for them, and refusing to actually acknowledge the situation.  Concern trolls, I guess you’d call them.  They act like we’re on the same side, and couch their ridiculous suggestions in sensible sounding language, but they are trolls  nonetheless.

So, no.  We’re going to keep after Hillary as  long as there are  people like  that  who keep saying we should  forget  about her.  Politics is not football.  The victory does not go to whoever gets the most points in a given time period.  The  victory goes  to whoever stays on the field the longest.

Liz Warren has admitted that  there was rigging, too.  In her  answer to that  question a few months back, she  waffled so much I’m amazed she didn’t choke.  I guess Donna Brazile’s book  made  a difference  there.
It’s all a political calculation.  How  long can I back  the wrong side before turning around and doing – or at least saying – the right thing, and expect voters  to forget about  it by the next election.  Pretty long, in the case of the average voter.  That’s changing, though, with social media, and I  think she may have left that meatloaf in the over just a bit too long.

Donna Dishes Dirt

Hoo boy, this Donna Brazile story is hot stuff.  Especially, as it follows hot on the heels of the New York City board of elections admitting that they denied 200,000 people in Brooklyn the right to vote.
Even before that, we had plenty of evidence that the primaries were rigged, but nothing sways a jury, or public opinion, like an admission of guilt, and now we’ve got more than one of those.

There’s  been a lot of speculation on the Bernie boards about her motivation.  Some people are so grateful for this snippet of truth that they are heaping praise on the lady who gave Hillary debate questions in advance.  Most are more skeptical, assuming either that the heat was on, the fingers on the hand of the long arm of the law were getting too close for comfort to Ms. Brazile’s collar, while some others pointed out that she’s got a book coming out and this will certainly help to sell a few copies.
I suspect both of those are true.  I also suspect that the New  York City board of elections didn’t offer up the information voluntarily.
No matter.  It’s just like the scandals on the Republican side.  If Manafort, Gates and Popadopoulos keep themselves out of jail by giving information that leads to Trumps impeachment, I’ll be happy.  If they keep themselves out of jail by offering up information that sends  Donald Trump to prison, and/or leads to forfeiture of his assets, I will be a happy camper.
Likewise, although I think it’s an insult to democracy that nobody from the New York City board of elections is going to jail, if it eventually means that Hillary Clinton does, I’ll be satisfied.

Trump Kids

Had a lovely day off today due to a cancellation, and now it 11:20 p.m. and I’ve got nothing in particular to write about, news on in the background and I can’t understand why Wolf Blitzer is still on television.  He stammers and says shit like ‘Allabu Akbar.’
Don Trump, Jr., (the one who shoots elephants) tweeted a very stupid tweet of his daughter with Halloween candy and saying he should teach her about socialism by taking her candy away.  I’m not going to talk about what a ridiculous analogy that is, or how you could describe other economic systems using candy, or how there used to be a meme out there about a farmer with two cows which was similarly stupid, but what I really want to say is that parents on the left and right and everywhere in between are guilty of this, they get their kids to parrot their political opinions and say, ‘Gee, look how smart he/she is’ and generally I see it as fairly innocent but I do feel sorry now for anybody who is part of the Trump family.

Don is going down.  I don’t know if he’ll go to jail, but it’s seeming like more and more of a possibility and, because he’s had such a nepotistic regime, it will fit his family hard.  As far as Don, Jr. and Eric and Ivanka are concerned, let them all go to jail as well.  They are adults, they have participated.  True, they were probably doomed from birth, but you could say the same thing about big Don, you could say the same thing about most people in jail for  serious crimes.  Something went wrong in their childhood.

I do feel bad for Baron and Chloe and any other little Trump or Kushner offspring out there, but the  quicker it happens and their parents are all in jail, the better a chance they’ll have  of being normal some day.

Melania might be the only one to come out of the whole  deal ahead, and she’s one I don’t feel sorry for.  She knew what she was marrying into.   She’s complicit.

Spacey’s Bad Day

I suppose it’s a  shame  that House  of  Cards  got canceled, even though  I’ve never seen it.  Sucks for  all  the actors involved  who aren’t Kevin Spacey, some of  whom have probably never  sexually propositioned an underage person since they were underage persons their own selves.
It certainly seems as if Kevin Spacey’s career will be destroyed by  this.  I feel a little bit bad  for him,  because I don’t consider his crime that great – yeah, he made a sleazy pass at an underage boy, but the  boy got up   and walked  away and that was that.  He didn’t give  the kid roofies like Bill Cosby, he didn’t threaten  the boy with loss of career like Harvey Weinstein, he never bragged about  grabbing him  by  the  dick, as Donald Trump might have done, and he never sent the boy dick pix, like Anthony Weiner.
Still, I only feel a little bit bad for  him.  He’s had  some great roles, and I’m  sure he’s set for life financially, so he’ll  be O.K.  I’m not going to boycott any films he’s in any more than I’d refuse to  read any poetry by Pound (a Nazi), or William Burroughs (murdered his wife), or enjoy the art works of Dali (a Nazi sympathizer).

Actors, artist, athletes, celebrities are not necessarily role models.  They can be, but that’s not actually in their job description.
It’s a bit sad for Spacey, because the reason he’s in so much hot water is that he handled the situation so badly.  He used  the incident to come out as gay (well, duh).
I don’t see that as a big deal, but a lot of gay people I’ve heard from, who’ve weighed in on the issue, seem to think it is.
That’s how badly he’s handled this.  He comes out as gay and gays condemn him for it.

Is This the End, or Just the Beginning?

I do sincerely  hope that the indictments against Paul Manafort and Richard “Who?” Gates, on charges of money laundering and consorting with Boris and Natasha, and the guilty plea entered by George Popadopoulos (not to be confused with former Greek military dictator Giorgios Popadopoulos.  Apparently, despite its not insignificant length, Popadopoulos is a common  Greek name) on a charge of lying to the FBI (when he said “Russians?  I don’t know anybody who’s been dealing with Russians.) is only the beginning of a series of charges, rollovers, and more charges that leads to Trump’s impeachment, much  like Watergate in ’73.
However, when the Hillary apologists on my Facebook page come on to say “See, she didn’t do anything wrong” we are no longer on the same page.  Seriously, I’m sure there’s a lot we can agree on, once you all get over it.  She cheated, she lost, and Trump’s obvious failings in no way  excuse  her own.  If they Democrats want to win in 2018, they would  really do  much better  to just never mention her name again.
So, back  to Manafort, Gates  and Popadopoulos.  It certainly does seem that Mueller has aimed as low  as  he possibly  could.  Manafort was Trump’s campaign manager, but Gates was just  Manafort’s assistant (and these charges stem from 2013) and Popadopoulos was just some kind of  lobbyist.

Still, it’s something and it could be a beginning, if Mueller plays it that way.  Here’s my question:  what if Trump gets  impeached,  and Pence  is also  forced out (see Spiro Agnew), and it  all goes down between November of 2018 and January of 2019, but in the meantime Randy Bryce has defeated Paul Ryan for his congressional seat.  Would Ryan still become President?
Of course, if the Democrats manage to retake the House, that’s not  going to happen.  But, the way they are  going (see my comments about Clinton, above) the chances of  them retaking anything are  extremely remote.
